The Board unanimously passed its nearly 74-million-dollar budget which is a one-million-dollar increase compared to last year. During the work session Superintendent Dr. Mark Johnson went over revisions to the budget which included a five percent salary scale increase for teachers. The budget will now go to the county’s board of supervisors for its final approval. ....
1 month ago in Local Photo: Saga Communications 3/15/21 The Shenandoah County School Board approved the appointment of Ryan Lingle as Principal of Peter Muhlenberg Middle School effective yesterday. He had been serving as acting principal of the school in Woodstock. The move came at Thursday night’s school board meeting. Lingle has 14 years of experience in Shenandoah County Public Schools and has spent half of that time serving as an assistant principal. Superintendent Dr. Mark Johnston stated in a news release that Lingle has done an excellent job as acting principal, and is the perfect choice to help students continue to recover and rise from the pandemic. ....

WOODSTOCK â The three committees chosen to select the new names of two schools and one mascot on the southern campus gave their recommendation to the Shenandoah County School Board on Thursday night. The committee to rename Stonewall Jackson High School chose Mountain View High School and also decided to change the mascot from the Generals to the Rattlers. The committee to rename Ashby Lee Elementary School chose Honey Run Elementary School and decided on keeping the Bees mascot name. The committee to rename the mascot at North Fork Middle School chose to go with whatever mascot was selected for the high school. ....
