Nepal likely to receive 1.5 million doses of J&J jab from COVAX

Kathmandu, July 6 If everything goes as planned, Nepal is most likely to get 1.5 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine next week under the COVAX facility, multiple officials at the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed.
COVAX, the international vaccine-sharing scheme backed by the United Nations, which has committed to providing 13 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, sufficient to inoculate 20 percent of the 30 million population, has proposed the authorities to accept the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Health Ministry says ongoing Covid-19 vaccination will not stop

Kathmandu, March 14 At a time when several countries in Europe have suspended administering the Covid-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca, a British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical company, Nepal says there is no reason to halt its ongoing immunisation drive.
Officials said no serious adverse effects have been recorded following the immunisation, in which Covishield, developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca, is being used.
As of today, we have not recorded any serious adverse effects after immunisation, Dr Jhalak Sharma, chief of the Child Health Section at the Family Welfare Division under the Department of Health Services, told the Post. Some people have complained of mild fever and weakness following the immunisation, which is normal. ....
