MWM demands resolving Shia missing persons’ issue

Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) General Secretary Allama Raja Nasir Abbas on Wednesday termed the alleged enforced disappearances of members of the Shia community a serious violation of human rights, and asked the government and state institutions to resolve the issue.
He expressed these views during a telephonic address to the participants of the sit-in of the Shia community who have been protesting in front of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum since April 2 for the recovery of their missing family members.
The protest camp was organised by the Joint Action Committee for Shia Missing Persons. Abbas said the participants of the sit-in are demanding the rule of law based on the supremacy of the constitution, so the government should listen to their demand. ....

Countrywide sit-ins to be staged today for recovery of Shia missing persons

As part of its strategy to put pressure on the government and the law enforcement agencies to recover missing persons from the Shia community, the Joint Action Committee for Shia Missing Persons has announced it will stage sit-ins across the country today.
The announcement was made on Saturday by leaders of the action committee on the second day of an ongoing sit-in protest in front of the Mazar-e-Quaid.
The Joint Action Committee, a joint platform of representative organisations of the Shia community, had given an ultimatum to the government to produce all missing persons in court by March 31. âAfter receiving no positive response from the government, the committee announced the start of a protest from April 2,â said the sit-in organisers. ....
