Sharjah Police launch major campaign to prevent bank frauds

Sharjah: The Eastern Region Police Department of Sharjah Police General Command has launched an awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Be vigilant. Don’t be fooled by phone’, in cooperation with the UAE Central Bank and various banks in the country, to educate the community on how to identify bank frauds and avoid being scammed by them. The campaign comes as part of Sharjah Police’s strategy to keep community members safe, in accordance with the objectives of the Ministry of Interior to enhance security. Colonel Dr Ali Al Kay Al Hammoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, said that Sharjah Police are continuing their efforts to intensify their activities to contain fraud over the telephone, in addition to spreading security awareness on a larger scale to all segments of society, urging everyone to take all the necessary precautions to protect them from fraud .

Free entry to Sharjah museums on International Museum Day

SHARJAH: This year, Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is marking International Museum Day with free entry on May 18 to its museums across the emirate. SMA will also be hosting a virtual session on that day which will discuss the future of Sharjah’s museums and tourism scene amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Titled ‘The Future of Museums Recover and Reimagine (Real and Virtual Challenges)’ the panel discussion will see the participation of Crisis and Disaster Management Department Sharjah Police Headquarters; Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and SMA represented by Sharjah Art Museum. The virtual session will kick off with a brief about the key role of Sharjah’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and its collaboration with cultural and tourism authorities for better implementation of safety procedures during the pandemic.

The high-tech devices have been deployed in 35 zones in Sharjah… Sharjah’s emergency crisis and disaster team has joined forces with the Air Wing Department of the General Directorate of Security Support at the Ministry of Interior, and the Sharjah Police force, to launch a Covid-19 awareness campaign, using drones to enforce social distancing and deliver public safety messages. Sharjah Police Headquarters shared a video of the drones in action, via their social media accounts. According to Wam news agency, police patrols will be using drones to broadcast direct awareness messages, in addition to conducting air patrols to monitor compliance with preventive and precautionary measures. The campaign hopes to limit the continued spread of Covid-19, and preserve the health and safety of society, said the report.
