More budget demanded for GBV sensitisation

Islamabad : Parliamentarians and civil society representatives on Wednesday suggested effective legislation, more budgets and mass sensitisation on curtailing Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Pakistan.
They were expressing their views at a daylong session organised by Awaz Foundation Pakistan in collaboration with Ujala Network and Parliamentary Commission for Human Rights.
It was also reminded to all political parties and their legislatures that nothing is being asked beyond their commitments made by them in their respective political party manifestoes as well as by the Parliament.
The session with Parliamentarians of National Assembly and Legislative Assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) was chaired by Riaz Fatyana and also attended by various Members National and GB Assembly including Shandana Gulzar, Dr. Shazia Soomro, Kishwar Zehra, M. The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government has announced Rs3 million for the deceased mountaineer, Mohammad Ali Sadpara’s family, and a suitable job for his son.
Ali Sadpara, John Snorri from Iceland and JP Mohr from Chile had gone missing on K2 on Feb.5.
Last week, the government declared them dead after failing to locate the missing climbers following a lengthy search and rescue effort. ....
