Chindit is Newmarket-bound after getting on top close home to win the Watership Down Stud Too Darn Hot Greenham Stakes at Newbury.
Richard Hannon’s Champagne Stakes winner was the 7-4 market leader, despite disappointing on soft ground in the Dewhurst when he was last seen.
But he was made to work extremely hard by Archie Watson’s previously unbeaten Mehmento, who had won both his starts at Southwell.

Ubahha, a son of Dubawi, in the mile novice contest (
4.45) at Yarmouth on Tuesday.
The three-year-old Ubahha is out of the winning Taqaareed, a Shadwell homebred and a full-sister to Oaks and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Taghrooda. The pair are out of the multiple stakes-winning Sadler s Wells mare Ezima.
Among the gelding s ten rivals are Godolphin s winning Royal Fleet, a Dubawi half-brother to Group 3 Prix de Ris-Orangis winner and Champagne Stakes runner-up Royal Fleet, and the Queen s twice-raced Chalk Stream, a Sea The Stars half-brother to Group 1 Winx Stakes runner-up Invictus Prince.
