King’s Legacy is ready to restore his reputation as one of the best colts of his generation when he resumes in the Group 2 $400,000 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.
At least this is the fervent hope of part-owner James Harron, his confidence buoyed by King’s Legacy’s recent trackwork and impressive barrier trial win last week.
“In his trial the other day, King’s Legacy wore blinkers and it was noticeable he jumped well, got down low and really lengthened like he was going last autumn,’’ Harron said.
“That was more like the King’s Legacy we know and we are hoping and he is ready for a good three-year-old campaign.’’
A few months before the Kentucky Derby 2021 and with more races scheduled for the Derby Prep Race, experts have already chosen their top 10 picks to contend on the Derby. There are even early favorites among the contenders as they travel the Road to the Kentucky Derby this year.

A precocious filly that we just had to have and thought of highly by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr. She was also rated highly by our Racing Manager, David Mourad.

Very pronounced in the wither and knitted up in the knees, which makes me think she will get up and get going as a 2yo. Obviously, she is in the Gold Trail family, so she’s in a very good family. She’s very sprinting build. She has that fast twitch, big solid muscle feel about her. Big hind quarter, pretty tough head for a filly, which I like in my fillies. They need to have some of that strength about them. She is definitely a sprinting, strong good going type filly by Capitalist, out of a good fast family.
