Six Michigan assistants are set to watch their contracts expire on Monday, creating confusion, unknowns and setting the stage for what could be a major overhaul to the staff. If Harbaugh elects to stay, of course. As of Tuesday evening, there was no update between him and the University of Michigan, who reportedly offered him a contract extension last week. Harbaugh has yet to sign the new deal, while rumors continue to link him to the NFL. ....

This is meant to be more of a qualitative and topical assessment across the division, so I m not really comparing apples-to-apples. I did however organize the list of teams below in ascending order from highest regarded class to lowest according to 24/7 Sports. Definitely some tea leaves to be read in the results. One thing that remains certain. Ohio State will be very good. ....

Defensive coordinator Don Brown collected $1.7 million in base salary and bonuses this year, making him the highest paid assistant coach in the Big Ten. The ranking comes from USA Today’s annual database of salaries for college football assistant coaches, whose pay continues to increase at exponential rates. Brown ranked eighth nationally. ....
