Burnley woman went round to ex-boyfriend's house armed with hammer

THE same day she was made subject to a suspended prison sentence a woman went round to an ex-boyfriend’s house armed with a hammer and smashed a window.
Blackburn magistrates heard Sophie Hartley later told police she didn’t care if they sent her back to prison.
But the Deputy District Judge who sentenced her said she was going to take a lenient approach and give Hartley another chance.
Hartley, 29, of Bread Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a window belonging to Kieran Wright. She was fined £100 for being in breach of the suspended sentence, £110 for the criminal damage and ordered to pay £50 compensation. ....

The department of Animal husbandry has come up with a milk ATM in Pulwama town.
As part of his mobility, a well-read young man, Shabir Malik set up the first Milk ATM in Pulwama and provide 250 kgs free on the day it was inaugurated. The 200-litre capacity machine has dispensed 100 kgs a day, post-inauguration. The machine has an inbuilt Automatic Milk Control Unit that dispenses exact quantity as its Solid Non- Fat calibrator checks the fat content in milk. Though customers can pay cash there is an option of the pre-paid card too. Animal Husbandry Department has provided him with a 2000-litre Big Milk Cooler that keeps the milk at 4 degrees Celsius and extends its shelf life to three days. Under the existing scheme, the government provides a fifty per cent subsidy. ....

Judge labels screwdriver and craft knife man's story as 'fantastic'

A MAN stopped by police in the early hours of the morning and found in possession of screwdrivers and a craft knife claimed he was on his way home to mend a door.
Blackburn magistrates heard Gregory Gennaro Franco tried to hide behind a car and discarded some of the tools he was carrying.
And Deputy District Judge Gary Garland described the defendant s door repair claim as a fantastic story .
I don t know many people who start doing DIY at 1am, said the judge.
Franco, 36, of Burnley Road, Padiham, pleaded guilty to going equipped for theft and possession of a bladed article. He was sentenced to 2 weeks in custody suspended for 18 months. He was made subject to a curfew between 7pm and 7am for four weeks and ordered to pay £85 costs and £128 victim surcharge. ....
