A fully detailed application of a new secondary school in Middleton has now been submitted. Planning officials have already given ‘outline’ permission for the new school – dubbed the Edgar Wood Academy – to be built on grazing land at Birch and Bowlee. But while that approved the development ‘in principle’ – together with a new access road off Heywood Old Road – a fully detailed application has now been submitted by the Altus Education Partnership. It sets out the appearance, layout and scale of the development, as well as including further information on parking and sports provision. The proposals confirm the school will feature two main buildings: a three-storey teaching block and a separate two-storey sports hall connected by a covered walkway. ....

Ten marble factories sealed, encroachment removed from graveyard Peshawar December 29, 2020 PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration sealed 10 marble factories on the Warsak Road and arrested the owners and managers for polluting the environment and not complying with the environmental laws. Assistant Commissioner (Shah Alam) Sobia Hassam Toru along with Additional Assistant Commissioner Shah Wazir launched a crackdown on the units due to non-installation of effluent mechanism on the premises which paves the way for the discharge of wastewater in drains, irrigation channels and causes health hazards. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Asghar said that these factories had been served notices to install proper waste disposal plants and adopt hygienic measures failing which the action was initiated against them. ....
