Young man drowns, friend rescued in Gadani July 26, 2021 KARACHI: A young man drowned and his friend was rescued at the Gadani beach on Sunday. According to police, the two friends had gone to the Gadani beach to have a picnic where they began to drown. Divers attempted to rescue them but one of them had already died when they retrieved him. The other person was in an unconscious state when he was retrieved by divers. The body and the unconscious man were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, where the deceased man was identified as 25-year-old Waleed, son of Ghulam Rasool, and his friend as 25-year-old Fahad, son of Lal. Police said the two youths were friends and lived in the Shah Latif locality. ....
July 17, 2021 Many areas of the city received moderate rain, with some localities pounded by heavy showers on Thursday night, which resulted in prolonged power outages in almost half of the city. Rainwater accumulated on a number of roads and thoroughfares, causing traffic jams and inconvenience to motorists. “Under the influence of a monsoon system, Karachi’s different areas received light to moderate rains from Thursday evening till night. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in the Gulshan-e-Hadeed area where 70 millimeters of rain was recorded. July 15, 2021 The East Zone chief for the Karachi Range of the Sindh police has ordered an inquiry against a former station house officer (SHO) of the Shah Latif police station for possessing an expensive vehicle. East DIG Saqib Ismail Memon has ordered an inquiry against ex-SHO Naik Muhammad Khosa, directing the Landhi Division superintendent of police to complete the investigation within seven days and submit a report. The order states that it must be established who owned the vehicle, and how did it come to be in the possession of the former SHO, while it should be verified whether the vehicle contained public or private weapons or not. ....
Weapons and empties did not match, forensic expert testifies in court July 9, 2021 A forensic expert testified in an anti-terrorism court on Thursday that the weapons taken from policemen accused of murdering Naqeebullah Mehsud in extrajudicial custody did not match with the bullet empties recovered from the crime scene. According to the prosecution, 27-year-old Naqeebullah, whose real name was Naseemullah Mehsud, was killed along with three others, Sabir, Nazar Jan and Ishaq, in a fake encounter on the outskirts of the city in Shah Latif Town on January 13, 2018, by then SSP Malir Rao Anwar and his team. The official who conducted forensic examinations on case properties was presented as a witness in the court to testify on his report. He deposed that the empties provided to him by the investigation officer did not match the weapons seized from the accused. Textile mill worker gunned down in Liaquatabad July 6, 2021 Two suspects killed an employee of a textile mill in an act of target killing in Liaquatabad on Monday. Sharifabad police said 26-year-old Shaikh Aizaz was attacked on the Karimabad flyover when he was going to his workplace, located in the Karimabad area, on a motorcycle. He died shortly after one of the two men, also riding a motorcycle, shot him twice in his head and chest. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. Police said the deceased was a resident of the Qasimabad area of Liaquatabad and was on his way to the textile mill where he worked. They said the attackers had been following him. ....
