GARDINER Dozens of volunteers picked up plastic coffee cups, cigarette butts, tires, construction debris, food wrappers, masks, and random bits of plastic and anything else found improperly discarded in a spring cleanup Saturday in downtown Gardiner and along Cobbossee Stream. Participants noted, however, that their efforts weren’t really just about cleaning up those two specific areas.
Saturday morning 676 pounds of garbage was collected by 31 volunteers who took part in a cleanup organized by Upstream, a local nonprofit dedicated to restoring sea-run fish passage on Cobbossee Stream. Plants and peace at Good Roots Boutique

Jen Murphy loves plants and gardening. She loves getting her hands in dirt. It only seemed natural for her to open a plant shop, which is exactly what she did in North Scituate.
“Good Roots Boutique is a shop in the old train building,” Murphy said. “We sell mostly tropical plants and succulents, but also other beautiful and healing things like artwork, jewelry and pottery from local artists. Plants are purifying and we hope customers feel a positive healing vibe when they visit.”
Murphy claimed South Shore status after moving to Hingham in the 8th grade, she said. In 1997, she moved with her family to Scituate because of the beaches, and stayed because of “the amazing community here.” ....
