Jacksonville, FL, July 10, 2021 (PR.com) Junior Achievement of North Florida has received a grant from The Jim Moran Foundation to support their new JA Inspire – A Career Exploration Program. The nonprofit has been awarded $97,000 to introduce students to career opportunities and the education they need on the path to those careers. When Shannon Italia was in the eighth grade, there was no talk of college majors or careers. Italia, who is now president of Junior Achievement of North Florida, wishes there had been.
I really can’t recall doing anything related to career exploration until later in high school. By then it felt like it was too late, she said. I had to decide where to go to college and what major to pursue with very little knowledge or personal experience to bring to the process. My dad was a bank executive, so I ended up choosing to major in business by default. ....
