UPDATED: MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The 66-year old Murfreesboro man involved in a multi-vehicle crash on Lebanon Pike (Hwy 231) Tuesday, June 2, has been identified as Tibor Koritsanszky.
Koritsanszky suffered severe injuries after the driver of another vehicle crossed the yellow double line colliding with his Toyota Prius. Koritsanszky was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department personnel. He was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he died about an hour later.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The annual Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Peace Officer Memorial Day ceremony in honor of fallen officers will be virtual due to COVID. It will air on various broadcast and social media platforms, at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 13.
National Police Week began in 1962, when President John F. Kennedy recognized May 15 as Police Officers Memorial Day.
“This is a time for us to pay special tribute to all law enforcement officers who gave their lives while serving their community,” said Chief Michael Bowen. “While honoring these fallen officers, we also recognize the brave men and women who currently protect and serve our communities daily.”

Governor Bill Lee has announced “Untold Tennessee” as the theme for a yearlong celebration commemorating 225 years of statehood. Tennesseans are invited to attend events and activities in all 95 counties and submit stories that showcase their area of the state.
Gov. Lee will kick off a 95-county tour and year of celebration by visiting Bicentennial Mall in Nashville and the Blount Mansion in Knoxville on June 1, 2021, Tennessee’s 225th birthday. Additional events will be announced as they are scheduled.
