Hilltown election news Three Hilltown communities held their annual town elections on Saturday. In Goshen, 62 of the town’s 803 registered voters showed up to the polls, a 7.7% turnout. The only contested race was for Chesterfield-Goshen School Committee, where incumbent Barton Gage beat challenger Carla Raymond by a vote of 33 to 21. Voters wrote in candidates for open positions on the ballot. Corey Carvalho was elected to the Planning Board for a five-year term as a write-in candidate, while Sabrina McGill was elected as a write-in candidate for library trustee, and Mary Packard was elected to a two-year term on the Finance Committee as a write in. A four-year term on the Planning Board, meanwhile, has a three-way tie of write-in candidates: David Packard, Mark Kincade and Keith Wright. Each got two votes. ....
Worthington TM OKs full-time police chief and officer, defers on frontage change Published: 5/2/2021 8:02:04 PM WORTHINGTON – Annual Town Meeting had a big turnout Saturday, with two articles being voted down and a third referred to the Planning Board for two years of study. Voters also approved money to make the police chief a full-time job and hire a full-time officer. Approximately 140 voters participated in Town Meeting, which was moved inside the R.H. Conwell School due to high winds and low temperatures. “Today was particularly well attended for a Town Meeting,” said Select Board Chairman Charley Rose, in an interview. The meeting was originally scheduled to take place outside. However, the company employed to put up the tent was contractually unable to do so because of the wind. The town moderator, Board of Health and other local officials decided it would be best to have the meeting indoors. ....
Funding for full-time police chief, zoning change on Worthington TM agenda Published: 4/29/2021 7:27:34 PM WORTHINGTON Residents will decide at Annual Town Meeting on Saturday if they want a full-time police chief and whether to decrease the street frontage required to build a house, along with voting on a bevy of routine budgetary items. The meeting will take place outside the R.H. Conwell School starting at 9:30 a.m. The biggest monetary item on the 36-article Town Meeting warrant is the fiscal year 2022 Worthington School District budget, contained in Article 3. The proposed budget is $1,211,756, up from $1,166,275 for the current year. The total request consists of $953,574 for the elementary school and $258,182 for the secondary school budget. ....
