Hanoi â The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) ended on a high note at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on February 1.
On behalf of the Presidium, Nguyen Thanh Hai, member of the Congressâs Secretarial delegation, read a list of political parties, international organisations and friends who had sent congratulations to the Congress.

The first plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee elected an 18-member Politburo in Hanoi on January 31.
Party leaders attend the first meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee
The Politburo members comprise of:
- Nguyen Phu Trong, Party General Secretary and President;
- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc;
- Pham Minh Chinh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission;
- Vuong Dinh Hue, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and head of the delegation of National Assembly deputies (14th tenure) of Hanoi;
