By Court Reporter Lewis Cameron was spared immediate jail after he made off with iphones and a laptop without paying during one-to-one sales. A MAN who systematically snatched high end mobile phones and a laptop from Facebay sellers he arranged to meet at a car park, was spared jail because of his efforts to beat drug and alcohol addiction. Lewis Jay Cameron, 21, of Medeway, Sandown, admitted three Facebay-related thefts from Marks and Spencer s car park, Cowes, on May 20 last year, plus a shoplifting from Cowes Co-op, with accomplices, on November 19. In doing so, he admitted a breach of a community order, made by magistrates on the same day as the thefts took place, together with failing to attend appointments on November 30 and December 7 last year. ....
Scott Cooper, 32, of no fixed address, admitted assaulting an emergency worker by beating and cannabis possession. Police were called to the Pavilion Bar, on Ryde Esplanade, following a report of men fighting on Saturday (24). While they were dealing with a separate issue, they saw jobless Cooper, with a pint of lager in hand, approach one of the officers. The officer told him to leave and held Cooper s arm to ensure he got no closer. Cooper muttered something to him, then spat at his face. The spittle landed on his cheek, said Ann Smout, prosecuting, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court. ....
