through March 1
City of San Marcos facilities will remain closed to the public through the end of February due to continued rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations within San Marcos and Hays County.
Facilities are scheduled to reopen to the public March 1, and this timeline will be reevaluated later in February. In early January, the hospital capacity in Trauma Service Area O, in which San Marcos resides, reached the 15% mark occupied by COVID-19 patients for seven consecutive days, resulting in additional restrictions being initiated Jan. 11.
City staff will be available to assist residents by phone, email, curbside services and utility billing drive thru. For more information: sanmarcostx.gov.

A Hays teen battling cancer, Sophia Linenberger, was the recipient of the anonymous Kansas City-based group that delivers a unique Christmas surprise to children with a life-threatening illness. Sophia was so surprised with the sirens and knock at the door Christmas Eve morning from our local police department, said Jenny Linenberger, Sophia s mother. Sophia s sister Holly was also at home for the delivery. Thank you to The Elves of Christmas and Hays Police Department for making Sophia s and Holly s Christmas so special, Linenberger said. We are truly grateful for your generosity.
The Elves of Christmas Present gift was delivered by officers with the Hays Police Department and the Ellis County Sheriff s Office.
