At least one person injured after gunfire between two vehicles in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Police officials in Kalamazoo shut down an area of Westnedge Avenue last night after an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles that were in motion.
It happened at around 7:30 near the top of Westnedge Hill between Parkwood Ave. and Maple St.. Few details are available at this time, but police told WWMT at least one person was injured and had to be taken to a hospital for treatment. A witness had also reported seeing someone lying in the roadway, covered with blood.
There are no reports of any arrests at this time and detectives are still investigating. The roadway was reopened at around 9:30 p.m.. ....

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) A bridge in Kalamazoo is closing to vehicle traffic for good out of concern for the safety of drivers.
The Inkster Avenue bridge, which crosses over Bronson Blvd. between Westchester Lane to Plymouth Lane in the Westnedge Hill neighborhood, will eventually be removed. For now, it remains open to pedestrians and bikers.
James Baker with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Services says that the decision to close it came after close monitoring into the structural safety of the bridge.
“We’ve been inspecting the bridge every three months for about a year now, due to some continued deformations, or sagging, that the bridge has been experiencing.” ....
