Scotswoman of the Year 2020: 'No matter what life throws at them, some women just rise to the challenge'

TAKE a look at the mural in St Enoch Centre which celebrates every single Scotswoman of the Year since our awards began in 1963.
It is a wall of fame like no other – a reassuring reminder that in every walk of life, in every corner of Scotland, no matter what life throws at them there are always those who rise to the challenge.
In 2020, says the centre’s general manager and long-time friend of SWOTY Anne Ledgerwood, that rings true more than ever.
“It’s true - 2020 has of course been an incredibly challenging year for everyone due to COVID-19, but it has also brought to the fore some inspirational women in Scotland,” she says. ....

The Salvation Army says demand for support in Govan has doubled as church leaders appear on BBC s The One Show
DEMAND for the crucial festive work of The Salvation Army has almost doubled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Around 1500 children - who might otherwise miss out on Christmas gifts - will be given a present this year.
Church leaders Majors Mark and Tracy Bearcroft say that compared to last year they are already seeing almost twice as much demand from people hardest hit by the pandemic.
The church s work featured on BBC One’s The One Show this week.
Film crews recorded at the church and charity in Govan to capture its Christmas Present Appeal, which this year is expected to bring joy to around 1500 children who might otherwise miss out on opening a present. ....
