College to provide homes for students
Plans were announced for the first purpose built halls of residence for Falmouth College of Arts in the heart of the town.
They are to be built behind the old police station and Argos. Part of the land, off Berkeley Vale, was once owned by Riders Garage.
It does not include the old police station although the scheme is expected to enhance the chances of that listed site being sold in the future.
It is hoped to start work soon and complete the development by 1997.

St Nazaire Raid, Falmouth commemoration date

The annual St Nazaire Raid commemoration is to be moved from its current date of March 29 to a new date of April 18 to allow more people to attend once lockdown rules are eased on April 12.
At a recent meeting of Falmouth Town Council, mayor Steve Eva told councillors that if the event was moved they could have 15 people instead of six and April 18 was the date that they were going for at 11am. Town clerk Mark Williams said whatever the council did it would be low-key.
Last year the the service was cancelled because of coronavirus restrictions.
