LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – K.T. Oslin, a three-time Grammy-winning country singer and songwriter, died on Monday after battling Parkinson’s Disease and being diagnosed with COVID-19 last week, according to The Rolling Stone. She was 78.
Oslin won a trio of Grammys in the late 1980s for her songs “80s Ladies” and “Hold Me.” She took home best country vocal performance by a female for “80s Ladies” in 1988, then won the same award and best country song for “Hold Me” in 1989. The singer-songwriter also topped the charts with her 1990 song “Come Next Monday.” ....

Grammy-winning country star K.T. Oslin has died. She was 78.
The history-making singer-songwriter, best known for being the first-ever female to win song of the year at the CMA Awards back in 1988, had been suffering from Parkinson s disease and was diagnosed with COVID-19 the week before her death on Monday. It is unclear at this time if either contributed to her death. MusicRow first reported the news of her death, which was later confirmed in a statement by the Country Music Association.
Born Kay Toinette Oslin in Crossett, Ark. in 1942, she began her career as a folk musician and Broadway star before she found fame in her mid-40s as a country star in 1987 with her debut album  ....

80 s Ladies in 1987. The sweeping, nostalgic title track ballad was a breakout hit, only peaking at No. 7 on

American Grammy award-winning singer, K.T. Oslin, the first female songwriter to win the CMA Award for Song of the Year, for her 1987 hit “80’s Ladies,” has died at 78.
Oslin had been battling Parkinson’s disease and was diagnosed with Covid-19 last week, according to her friend, journalist Robert K. Oermann, who confirmed her death.
Oslin, born Kay Toinette Oslin in Arkansas, was 45 when she released her chart-topping debut country album, 1987’s 80’s Ladies a remarkable feat then for a woman in country music and a near impossibility today, Rollingstone.com reports. ....
