May 6, 2021 Mary Ann (Tatarko) Adomnik, 64, of Altoona, formerly of Twin Rocks, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Losiewicz; father, George Tatarko Sr.; and brothers, George “Taddy” Tatarko III; and Dr. Michael Tatarko Sr. Surviving is her loving and devoted husband of six years, Rick Adomnik; children: Christopher (Colleen) Losiewicz, David Losiewicz and Amanda (Rory) Szwed; grandchildren: Olivia, Kevin and Aubrey; stepchildren: Jennifer (John) Barefoot and son, Dylan, and Richard (Christine) Adomnik. Mary Ann is also survived by her mother, Irene Tatarko; siblings: Therese (Bill) Stawarz, Timothy (Nadine) Tatarko and Marina (Chris) Zindash; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. ....
[email protected] The Altoona Planning Commission on Tuesday conditionally approved a land development plan for a $3 million project that will enable Senior LIFE to move from rental space in the Gables building downtown to a new structure on Fairway Drive. The commission declined to waive a requirement that the firm construct a sidewalk along the 1,000-foot property frontage, but it accepted the company’s plan for two driveway openings, despite early concerns that egress from the property could create a hazard, due its location on an S curve. The company argued for the sidewalk waiver based on the absence of sidewalks along almost the entire length of Fairway Drive. ....
[email protected] A federal repository for adverse reports about medical practitioners has retracted a 2018 report filed against a former anesthesiologist by the Van Zandt VA Medical Center for issues that led to findings against the anesthesiologist by the VA Office of Inspector General. The National Practitioner Data Bank withdrew Van Zandt’s adverse report about Michael Knitter, currently a board certified anesthesiologist in Chippewa Falls, Wisc., after Van Zandt conducted a second review of the matter and determined the issues involved didn’t rise to a level that justified forwarding them to the data bank. The NPDB notified Knitter of its retraction of the report filed by the hospital in a “Void Report Confirmation,” with a “process date” of Sept. 17, 2018, stating “This … is to inform you that a report was removed from the National Practitioner Data Bank…for the following reason: The action was reversed because the original action should ....

Levine’s statements seem to indicate a change of plans, because, as previously understood, EMS workers would get vaccinations with other first responders like police and firefighters, according to AMED Executive Director Gary Watters.
