I am a physics teacher in this state, and I wholeheartedly endorse the view that more space science should be taught in our schools. However, I think the authors Charly Castillo and Sruthi Suresh, two high school students with strong science backgrounds missed some important information that could add perspective. As few as one in three physics teachers in this country has a background in either physics or physics education, based on a 2014 report by the American Institute in Physics. Most teachers, then, are non-specialists who teach this subject because the demand is comparatively lower than for some other courses.
