The Wellington City Council’s draft framework for redeveloping Te Ngākau Civic Square states that as a significant central public space, Te Ngākau must support the provision of high-quality green public space in the central area. Here’s more from the draft framework:
With 50,000-80,000 more people expected to live in Wellington by 2050, (the majority of whom will live in Te Aro and the central city) it is increasingly important that central city public spaces are green, accessible, safe and functional to support these growing neighbourhoods.
Te Ngākau is located near central Wellington with many important city destinations including the Waterfront, the Golden Mile, Te Wharewaka o Pōneke, Cuba Street, Te Papa, Frank Kitts Park and Courtenay Place all within a 5-10 minute walk. Plans to install electric vehicle charging points in Enfield

Charging points for electronic vehicles are proposed at a variety of locations in Enfield.
Notices placed by the London Borough of Enfield in this week’s Enfield Independent reveal there are plans to introduce the charging equipment in the form of chargers attached to lamp posts.
The chargers are planned outside various house numbers in these postcode areas:
N11: Ollerton Road, Stanley Road, Highworth Road, Warwick Road, Natal Road, Shrewsbury Road, Evesham Road.
N13: Elvendon Road, Princes Road, Tottenhall Road, Cranley Gardens, Devonshire Road.

Roadworks on Cable Street outside Te Papa caused traffic delays for an hour this morning, not only on Aotea Quay but also on the motorway. At 8.55, NZTA advised that vehicles heading into the city were queued back to the Ngauranga interchange.

Due to roadworks on Cable St outside Te Papa, be prepared for heavy traffic heading into the city via Aotea Quay. Queues are back to the Ngauranga interchange. Please use an alternative route if possible. ^AL pic.twitter.com/tUqiybZGKD
An hour later, NZTA advised that the congestion had eased, but it warned that the roadworks would be continuing till the end of the month. ....

Road Works January-February 2021 - Tākina Wellington Convention Centre

During January and February there will be weekday road
works on Cable Street and Wakefield Street to connect
utility services to the Tākina Wellington Convention and
Exhibition Centre.
The works, including water, power,
wastewater and stormwater connections, will involve lane
closures on weekdays and are planned over two
stages:
Stage One:
Cable Street
Works: 5 January – 29 January 2021, weekdays only, 24 hour
site
The works will involve some trenching across the
Cable Street road and footpath, and Cable Street will be
down to one lane during the works to enable safe trenching
and pipe installation.
The lanes will be opened up ....
