VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – More than a year later, deputies have made an arrest in the murder of a sex offender who was found dead at a Daytona Beach motel, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said 53-year-old Wayne B. Hibbs was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into the death of Marc Pinder, 69.

Hibbs was previously in custody at the Gulf Correctional Institution facing charges shortly after the murder, the sheriff’s office said, but he was recently transferred to the Volusia County jail. ....

Daytona Beach, FL – A man listed as a person of interest in the death of a registered sex offender, was arrested and then disappeared, is in the Volusia County Jail being held without bond. The Volusia Sheriff Office (VSO) booked 53-year-old Wayne B. Hibbs III yesterday (May 5) after being transported from the Gulf Correctional Institution, where he’d been since shortly after the crime, which occurred on February 28, 2020. Person Of Interest In Sex Offender Murder In Custody The victim was 69-year-old Marc Pinder. Both he and Hibbs were staying at the Speedway Motel on W. International Speedway Blvd., formerly known as the Bird’s Nest. The motel provides housing for registered sex offenders. An autopsy showed that Pinder died of blunt force trauma to the head. Detectives spoke with Hibbs during the initial investigation. He cut off his GPS tracker and disappeared. He was taken into custody some days later and put in jail for violation of probation. A ....
