Teens Push Overland Park To Consider New Smoking Ban

Four Kansas City-area teens working through an internship with nonprofit Startland have authored a proposal for municipalities to ban the use of tobacco in cars where children are present. Citing the dangers of secondhand smoke, four high school students proposed an ordinance banning adults from using nicotine products, marijuana and vape pens in cars and public transportation where minors are present.
Five years ago, most Kansas City-area municipalities
banned the sale of tobacco products to those under 21 years old. Now four local high school students, including a Blue Valley sophomore, want to take things a step further and outlaw smoking, vaping and other tobacco use in vehicles where minors are present. ....

Jan. 6 Theodore Ted H. Seligson, one of Kansas City s leading architects of the 20th century, died Monday of COVID-19, according to his obituary at Louis Memorial Chapel.
The 90-year-old Seligson was described in his obit as a true Renaissance man who was an architect, urban and interior designer, professor, fine art consultant and curator.
In his spare time he was a semi-professional violin player, reader of hieroglyphics, historic preservation activist, antiquarian, lover of comics, compulsive teacher and raconteur, according to the obituary. ....
