COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) A man died after he was shot by police and hospital security officers following an altercation in an Ohio hospital emergency room, authorities said Monday.
The shooting at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in suburban Columbus happened Monday morning after Westerville officers responded to a report of a man passed out in a car and then followed medics to the hospital.
Westerville police, Columbus police and the hospital said in a joint statement the man was found to have active felony warrants through Columbus police. ....

A hotel on South State in Westerville was one of two sites of a federal seizure of drugs and firearms this week, according to a Feb. 5 news release from the city of Westerville.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office Southern District of Ohio announced on Feb. 4 the seizure of more than 72 pounds of cocaine, 30 pounds of heroin, 8 pounds of methamphetamine, nine firearms and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash.
Lucio Manuel Munoz, 28, Maximus Alberto Dominguez, 19, and Rene Bernal Gaytan, 22, all of Columbus, were charged by federal criminal complaint and arrested Feb. 3, according to a Feb. 4 news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Ohio. ....

The Westerville Division of Police has received numerous reports of identity theft, with unidentified persons filing fraudulent claims for unemployment.
South Keethler Drive residents reported identity theft at 5:01 p.m. Jan. 23 after their personal information was used by an unidentified person to file for unemployment benefits. One of the residents received a letter in the mail asking her for confirm her application for unemployment benefits, and another received a call from his employer, who informed him someone had applied for unemployment using his information.
A Walsingham Court resident reported identity theft at 11:40 a.m. Jan. 23 after an unidentified person filed for unemployment benefits using his personal information. WESTERVILLE, Ohio The Westerville Division of Police have a warning about a new scam.
Westerville police say scammers are impersonating officers by using the names and positions of police officers.
Police say they received a call from someone saying they needed to pay fines by paying for them in gift cards.
The scammers told people they needed to go get the gift cards or they would be arrested. They also said not to tell anyone because of a gag order. ....
