Eastman Joins Colchester Thursday, 19th May 2011 15:20 Defender Tom Eastman has joined Colchester United on a two-year deal having turned down a six-month contract with the Blues. Eastman, 19, will be reunited with his former Town academy coaches Tony Humes and Richard Hall at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. The centre-half joins the U’s on a free transfer as the Blues’ offer didn’t match the terms of his previous one-year deal. Eastman says he s delighted to be joining his hometown side: This is a great move for me and I m joining a big club in this division. I was born in Colchester and have lived in Clacton all of my life, so it s great to be playing for my local club. ....
U21s at Colchester Monday, 22nd Apr 2013 11:14 Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth will be back on familiar territory this evening when Town’s U21s take on Colchester’s youngsters at the Weston Homes Community Stadium (KO 7pm). Wordsworth joined the Blues from the U’s in January. Also in the squad are Lee Martin, Elliott Hewitt and Arran Lee-Barrett with the rest of the travelling party made up of academy scholars. COLCHESTER’S annual half-marathon has become a key date in the town’s sporting and social calender. For obvious reasons, the hugely-popular 13.1-mile trek is taking a breather this year, as it did in 2020. However, it will return with a vengeance next spring and be eagerly-anticipated by those who take part, those who watch on and support it and the various good causes that benefit from funds raised. For today’s Nostalgia spread we’ve laced up our running shoes for a look back at half-marathon pictures from yesteryear. The race was first run in 2011. It was fully booked 17 days before the race and 1,000 runners pounded the pavements, getting underway at the JobServe Community Stadium. ....
