A MOTORIST was caught speeding at more than 100mph in Runcorn yesterday evening, Sunday. The male driver was stopped by Cheshire Police’s Roads and Crime Unit on the A557 Weston Point Expressway. Officers checked his driving licence at the scene and discovered that he already had 30 penalty points. It had also been revoked by the DVLA. The driver will appear in court at a later date. A tweet by the Roads and Crime Unit read: “Driver stopped for travelling at over 100mph on A557 Weston Point Expressway at Runcorn. “On checking his driving licence, he already had 30 penalty points and it had been revoked by the DVLA.” ....

Mini police to set up in two Runcorn schools A SUCCESSFUL police scheme aimed at encouraging children to make their communities safer has been rolled out in two more Runcorn schools. The Mini Police scheme will be adopted at Hill View Primary School and Weston Point Community Primary School where pupils can support officers and Police Community Support Officers to tackle local issues that have been highlighted, attend award ceremonies as ambassadors of the force and they are even given a police uniform that’s loosely based on a regular police uniform. The scheme was originally brought to Cheshire in 2018 by PCSO Paul Barker who piloted the national project at Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School in Halton Brook. ....
Masked robbers brandishing knife raid garage and steal motorbike from premises ARMED robbers brandishing a knife raided a garage in Runcorn yesterday afternoon. The vehicle repair centre on Percival Lane was targeted during a robbery at around 3.45pm on Tuesday, February 9. Two men entered the premises, with one threatening an employee with the weapon while the other stole an off-road motorbike. Both robbers then fled on the blue Yamaha YZF450, riding across the Mersey Gateway to Widnes. The armed robber was white, around 5ft11, aged around 20 and spoke with a Liverpudlian accent and was wearing walking trousers, a black hooded jacket with the hood up and a ski mask. ....
