Philosophy and art at the Belmont Library April 28, 2021BELMONT The library has arranged a NH Humanities book discussion in place of our regular Thursday book group. SNHU professor Dr. Kiki Berk will be leading a discussion on Massimo Pigliucci s How to be a Stoic: Using ancient philosophy to live a modern life. Get in touch with the library for the link to the meeting on May 13 at 1 p.m. We here at the Belmont Library are trying something a little different for storytime right now. There s a month long themed display- coming up, National Physical Fitness Month take one or two books and a craft/STEM kit. Wednesday mornings we ll post a short video (roughly five minutes) on the library s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. ....
April showers at the Belmont Library April 01, 2021BELMONT Your community library needs its community s opinions right now. The library is asking Belmont residents library users or not! to take a short survey (six questions) as we adapt our plans for the next few years. The survey link is available on the library s website and social media April 1-15. A printed copy is available at the library. We look forward to sharing the results! April 4-10 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the essential role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year s National Library Week is Welcome to your library, which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use their services. A new year begins at the Belmont Library January 06, 2021BELMONT We here at the Belmont Library are trying something a little different for storytime this winter. There s a month long themed display- January s is snow take one or two books and a craft/STEM kit. Wednesday mornings we ll post a short video (roughly two minutes) on the library s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. January s Take and Make project is a faux agate coaster set. You can also choose to create your own snowstorm with instructions to create your unique snowflakes from library-supplied paper. The non-fiction book group reads One Day: the Extraordinary Story of an Ordinary 24 Hours in America by Gene Weingarten. On New Year s Day 2013, two-time Pulitzer Prizewinner Gene Weingarten asked three strangers to, literally, pluck a day, month, and year from a hat.
