Wellington musician Thomas Oliver admits assault in wake of allegations

Oliver, who won the APRA Silver Scroll Award in 2016, for his hit, If I Move To Mars, claims he was “blackout-drunk” after consuming “an appalling amount of alcohol” and insists he does not remember the incident, which only ended after a mutual male friend witnessed his behaviour and intervened. Oliver described the woman called Jamie (not her real name) as a friend of several years and claimed he had “always had great respect for her”. He described asking Jamie if he could kiss her before she denied him, explaining that she had a partner. The pair then went to another party before the assault took place.
