Apr 24, 2021 HOUGHTON M-26 culvert replacement in Houghton County will start Monday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. The estimated completion date is late July. The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $1 million to replace a culvert on M-26 over Umbrella Tree Creek west of Goat Hill Road in Houghton County. Work includes asphalt paving, culvert replacement, guardrail, scour countermeasures, and pavement markings. The project map is available on Mi Drive. One alternating lane of traffic will be maintained via temporary traffic signals from May 10 through late July. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of this project. ....
HOUGHTON, MI The spring road work season begins in Houghton County Monday. The Michigan Department of Transportation is replacing culverts on M-26 and US-41. About $1 million will go toward replacing one over Umbrella Tree Creek west of Goat Hill Road on M-26. Work also includes asphalt paving, installing a guardrail and pavement markings. The project is expected to be completed in late July. And MDOT is replacing a culvert on US-41 over Peepsock Creek near Pilgrim Terrace Lane. Work will include asphalt paving, drainage, steel sheet piling, riprap and pavement markings. That $1.7 million project is expected to be wrapped up by mid-July. ....
Apr 17, 2021 HOUGHTON  The Michigan Department of Transportation announced road construction restrictions on five roads throughout the state Friday afternoon. Three locations were announced in Houghton County for dates in May. The first was to permit loads restricted to 11 feet in width on U.S. 41 from Pumphouse Road to Pilgrim Terrace south of Houghton, Houghton County, effective May 10, 2021. The second was permitting loads restricted to 12 feet in width on U.S. 41 from Depot Street to Church Street in Calumet, Houghton County, effective May 10, 2021. The third was permitting loads restricted to 11 feet in width on M-26 from Goat Hill Road to Arcadian Road in Franklin Township, Houghton County, effective May 10, 2021. ....
