The Government is facing renewed pressure to halt arms sales to Saudi Arabia amid fresh evidence of that the UK is supplying equipment that could be used to prolong the bombing campaign in Yemen.
Oxfam said British policy was now heading in the opposite direction to countries including America which have cut off the supply of weaponry which could be used in the conflict. The charity said the UK is increasing its support for Saudi military operations by agreeing to the export of materials including air-to-air refuelling systems – equipment which has the potential to allow Saudi jets to int ....

Earlier this week Sir Keir Starmer presented a party political broadcast beside a Union Flag, promising to ‘rebuild our country’.
Can you imagine his predecessor as Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, wrapping himself in the flag? Only if it were the Palestinian one, or possibly the Irish tricolour, in homage to his long-standing apparent support for the IRA.
Sir Keir wants to rebrand his party. A strategy presentation leaked to the Guardian newspaper urges Labour to ‘make use of the Union flag, veterans [and] dressing smartly’ as part of a campaign to win back the trust of disillusioned voters.
According to the Guardian, which has seen the presentation, it is aimed at what the party calls ‘foundation seats’ those formerly Labour ‘red wall’ constituencies in which many hundreds of thousands of voters defected to the Tories at the December 2019 general election. (Labour has said the report was made by a third party and is not party strategy.) ....

UK: Hong Kong’s National Security Law Used to Crush Dissents
The UK’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on Wednesday said that the national security law imposed on Hong Kong is being used to crush dissent and their views.
The statement came after 53 pro-democracy figures were arrested in Hong Kong on Wednesday morning the largest mass arrest so far since the national security law went into effect on June 30.
“The mass arrest of politicians and activists in Hong Kong is a grievous attack on Hong Kong’s rights and freedoms as protected under the Joint Declaration,” Raab said in a statement. ....
