May 3, 2021 The Wellsville Lions Club is proud to announce Jenna McNicol as the Student of the Month for November. She is the Daughter of Judge Tim McNicol and Maria McNicol of Wellsville Jenna’s academic achievements are the following: Member of the National Honor Society, 3.75 Honors, National Honor Society, and an Academic All Star- Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. She is enrolled in the College Credit Plus, taking classes at Kent East Liverpool while taking classes at Wellsville. Jenna attended HOBY in 2019. She volunteers in the community serving meals to the underprivileged and as a volunteer for sports youth programs. Jenna was a member of Junior Leadership Columbiana County and has been very active in the ADAPT Coalition (Alcohol and drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment). She has assisted with political campaigns by distributing literature and served as the Videographer for the Lady Tiger Basketball team. She has also assisted with “Learning is Cool” a ....
Emma Smith The Wellsville Lions Club is proud to announce Emma Smith as the Student of the Month for September. She is the Daughter of Dave and Michelle Smith of Wellsville. Emma is the Valedictorian of her Senior Class with a 4.000, a member of the National Honor Society, and 3.75 honors recipient for 4 years. She is enrolled in the College Credit Plus Program taking coursework at Kent State University in addition to her classes at Wellsville. Emma attended HOBY Youth Leadership Camp and was a member of the ADAPT Youth Leadership Coalition for 4 years. She assisted with Y-Teens Blood Drives for 4 years, SAK Club 3 years, Science Club 2, Leo Club 3 years, Varsity W Club 3 years. Emma also was a member of the Student Council, and Senior Class Treasurer. ....
Wellsville Daily Reporter WELLSVILLE Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, the Wellsville Lions Club continues to provide support to the local community. On Friday, the Lions Club reported its February disbursements including one with a connection to one of Wellsville s most famous names. The Club committed $1,670 for a historical marker commemorating Gabby Hayes, which will be placed near Pizza King on North Main Street in the Village of Wellsville. George Gabby Hayes was born in Wellsville on May 7, 1885 and went on to a successful career in film and television. He was well known for his acting roles in Westerns during a long Hollywood career. He died Feb. 9, 1969 in Burbank, Calif. ....
Ten members of the Lions Club participated in bell ringing at the local Tops Market Staff reports WELLSVILLE The Wellsville Lions Club is dedicated to serve the greater Wellsville community in keeping with its motto: “We Serve.” Despite COVID-19 issues, the Wellsville Lions Club continues to provide support to the local community. Dean Arnold presented a $1,000 check from the Wellsville Lions Club to Emily Stothart of the Salvation Army. Ten members of the Lions Club had participated in bell ringing at the local Tops Market Saturday, Dec. 20. One of the ways is through donations in response to requests. BOLIVAR â For the fifth consecutive year, the Bolivar Free Library supported a community improvement project by placing Christmas trees on the library grounds. The libraryâs board of trustees initiated the project to help beautify the village during the holiday season. The first year of the program (2016) saw 15 decorated trees adorn the library through the month of December and into January. Various area families sponsored the $20 trees and dedicated them in memory of family or friends. Several local businesses also sponsored trees as part of the community project. The next year there was such a demand to join the festivities that the number of trees was more than doubled to 33. ....
