Unrestrained Driver Killed in Morehouse Parish Crash

Morehouse Parish – On January 18, 2021, shortly before 11:45 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 165 north of the Ouachita Parish line. This crash killed 61-year-old Victor Kennedy of Bastrop.
The initial investigation revealed a 2018 Toyota Tundra, driven by Kennedy, was traveling southbound in the outside lane of U.S. Highway 165. For reasons still under investigation, Kennedy’s vehicle crossed into the inside travel lane and struck the rear of a southbound 2013 Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
Kennedy, who was unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. ....

JERSEY CITY It was an ordinary member of the Jewish community, not a municipal dignitary and not a rabbi, who best summarized the importance of Hanukkah s first night falling on the one-year anniversary of a hateful and destructive act of terror that left six dead in the city last December.

In the late autumn sunlight, hundreds of police officers from across the county, clad in navy blue uniforms, stood in silence in Bayview Cemetery to pay solemn tribute to a fallen brother.
Jersey City officials and police officers gathered Thursday morning to honor Jersey City Police Detective Joseph Seals, the first victim of the Dec. 10, 2019 mass shooting that claimed the lives of three other innocent civilians considered the worst incident of domestic terrorism in state history.
“Throughout generations, ugliness and hate, sin break so many hearts,” JCPD Chaplain Victor Kennedy said during Thursday’s ceremony. “And yet, there are so many people that stand up and say no.” ....
