Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students and athletes from Special Olympics Vermont joined forces this semester on activities that gave the students practice in clinical skills while engaging the Olympians, physically and socially. Vermont news media highlighted the collaboration in interviews with the students and athletes.
UVM has long collaborated with Special Olympics Vermont to provide free health screenings and education for athletes. The collaboration allows DPT students to gain increased understanding of people with intellectual disabilities while the athletes participate in fun fitness activities to improve their health and wellbeing. Typically, the interaction occurs in person during Special Olympics games. ....

Eagle Newspaper Group Sells Off Vermont Publications

The sale consists of dailies Brattleboro Reformer and Bennington Banner, the weekly Manchester Journal and the 3-year-old award-winning UpCountry, a bi-monthly magazine. Both the Banner and Reformer date back more than a century.

The terms of the sale were not disclosed other than that the transfer will take effect on May 14 and that The Berkshire Eagle will not only continue to print the publications for at least five years, it will also continue to provide pagination, ad development and customer service for classifieds and circulation.

The papers will be operated by Belogour s newly established Vermont News and Media LLC and all current employees of the Vermont papers will retain their positions. ....

Vermont Business Magazine Green Mountain Power (GMP) today announced an agreement with GlobalFoundries (GF) to support its petition to the Public Utility Commission to become a self-managed utility at its Essex manufacturing site starting in 2023. If approved, GF would directly manage its own transmission connections, distribution system, and power supply costs according to its own goals, needs and operational standards. The agreement is aimed at strengthening GF’s position in Vermont with its nearly 2,200 manufacturing jobs, while also helping to protect all other GMP customers from rising costs. The plan is subject to regulatory review and approval. ....
