Man Found Fatally Wounded In South Los Angeles
A man was found mortally wounded in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles, authorities said Monday. Officers responded at 11:23 p.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting at 48th and Hoover streets, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center. Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the officer said. No suspect information was available.

A fiery crash left one vehicle engulfed in flames and two people in that car seriously hurt Sunday in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles.
The crash took place at about 1:05 p.m. at 5131 S. Western Ave., according to spokeswoman Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Download our mobile app for iOS or Android to get the latest breaking news and local stories.
The auto fire extended into vegetation on a vacant lot and exposed one house to the flames, Stewart said.
Firefighters knocked down the fire and transported a man and a woman in their early 20s to a hospital for treatment of their injuries, Stewart continued.
The program which is a partnership between the Mayor s Office of Public Safety, the Los Angeles Fire Department and CORE includes 10 rotating clinics deployed into neighborhoods most affected by COVID-19, with the highest distribution in Vermont Square, South Park and L.A. Flower Mart locations, Garcetti s office said.
Up to 1,500 doses are administered each day, and 90% of the doses have gone into the arms of people of color and 66% to people who identify as Hispanic, according to Garcetti s office.
“Los Angeles City, LAFD and CORE launched vaccine mobile units in January, understanding early on that reaching hard-hit and marginalized communities with vaccines requires providing direct access to these communities with small, nimble units,” said Ann Lee, CORE Co-founder and CEO. “These units are all the more critical to keeping these communities safe as we see demand for vaccines begin to drop.”

Three injured in stabbing in Vermont Square

Three people were taken to a hospital Wednesday afternoon after reports of a stabbing in Vermont Square, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
LAPD spokesman Tony Im said officers responded to the 1000 block of West 43
rd Street about 3:40 p.m.
One person was taken into custody, he said. The condition of the injured people is unknown.
Im said the motive behind the stabbing was under investigation.
