RESIDENTS are being asked for feedback on a proposal for a new bridge and routes to Weymouth train station. As part of a bid to a government fund, Dorset Council will propose a new crossing at Weymouth train station which it hopes will improve connectivity, enhance the pedestrian and cycle network and improve accessibility to the town. The B3155 Swannery Bridge is the main road access to Weymouth train station and the town centre and is an important link between residential areas to the west, including Southill and Westham, and northern parts of the town centre, such as Weymouth College and Weymouth Community Hospital.
1/1 A CORONER said the death of a Weymouth teenager who contracted a virus which led to glandular fever and sepsis was an extremely tragic and rare death , an inquest heard. But the coroner concluded the care Toby James Hudson received did not contribute to his death. The inquest had heard on its first day that Toby had called a GP surgery 25 times to try and get an appointment after becoming ill, and he did not receive medical care until two days later. University student Toby, aged 19, of Belfield Park Drive, died on July 4, 2019 after being rushed to Dorset County Hospital when his condition deteriorated.
1/1 A PATHOLOGIST told an inquest that she believed a teenager who died a day after being diagnosed with tonsillitis by a nurse should have been seen by a doctor and undergone abdominal, blood pressure and pulse checks. Toby James Hudson, 19, from Weymouth, died on July 4 2019 after being rushed to Dorset County Hospital when his condition deteriorated. Coroner Rachael Griffin told an inquest the cause of death was Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which caused mononucleosis and led to sepsis, ruptured spleen and multi organ failure. A day before his death, on July 3 2019, Toby - who was suffering from a severe swollen neck - had been assessed by a nurse at the urgent care centre in Weymouth Community Hospital. She did not check his respiratory or blood pressure because she felt it was ‘not needed’ and prescribed penicillin antibiotics after diagnosing tonsillitis, the inquest heard.
Toby Hudson, 19, was initially unable to speak to a doctor in Weymouth, Dorset due to a faulty phone system and eventually gave up and decided to try again the next day
