A CHARITABLE foundation has been able to award thousands of pounds to community groups across the county in a bid to support environmental projects. The Dorset Community Foundation, thanks to its partnership with Wessex Water, was able to grant more than £16,000 to grass roots groups across the county for projects aimed at improving the environment in their communities. The Wessex Water Environment Fund was launched with the community foundation by The Wessex Water Foundation, a multi-million-pound initiative, launched in June 2020, which provides a dedicated funding stream for projects across the region. Many local grass roots groups across Dorset have been hit hard by the pandemic and were excited to receive the extra funding. ....
A PARTNERSHIP with Wessex Water has helped Wiltshire Community Foundation award £9,000 to grass roots groups for projects aimed at improving the environment in their communities. The Wessex Water Environment Fund was launched with the community foundation by The Wessex Water Foundation, a multi-million-pound initiative, launched in June 2020, which provides a dedicated funding stream for projects across the region. Among the recipients was the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Centre, which received £1,300 to make its garden more sustainable for members, who come from all over Wiltshire. “We have had the garden since 2013 but wanted to make it much more sustainable,” said director Rosie Eliot. “We have two marvellous volunteers who have put in two wheelchair-height planters, which will be really useful because lots of our members are in wheelchairs and can’t do their own gardening.” ....
BRIDPORT and District Citizens Advice has received more than £2,000 in grant funding which will enable them to train volunteers. The organisation has received a £2,412 funding boost to enable it to purchase specialist training for its advice team, courtesy of the Wessex Water Foundation s recovery fund. Most of the advice team are volunteers and it is hoped that the training will help improve their knowledge and enable them to give better advice to clients. The foundation’s recovery fund aims to support local organisations and charities affected by the coronavirus pandemic, helping to support communities and build resilience for the future. ....

VOLUNTARY groups and charities helping communities recover from Covid have been boosted with grants through a partnership between Wessex Water and Wiltshire Community Foundation. The Wessex Water Recovery Fund is part of the Wessex Water Foundation, a multi-million pound initiative launched last June. Grants have been targeted at people struggling with money, schemes to strengthen communities, green recovery initiatives and projects to enhance nature and wildlife. Among the recipients of the £43,000 awarded through Wiltshire Community Foundation, is Help Counselling Services in Trowbridge. The Trowbridge group has received £2,500 to provide more low-cost counselling to people struggling with the lockdowns. The grant will help reduce the time people have to wait to see a counsellor, which can be up to ten weeks. ....
