Police appeal to find missing man at Blue Mountains


Police are appealing for public information to find a man missing from the Blue Mountains.
Michael Morell, aged 46, was last seen leaving his home on Wilson Street, Wentworth Falls, about 5.40pm on Wednesday 10 March 2021.
Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified of his disappearance when he failed to arrive home and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
Police and family have concerns for Michael’s welfare.
He is thought to be travelling to the CBD and uses the train network.
Michael is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165 to 175cm tall, of slim build, with short, brown hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue and white striped hooded jumper, grey skivvy, dark blue tracksuit pants and black boots. He was carrying a shopping bag. ....

Police charge man after cyclist hit and seriously injured – Eastlakes
A man will face court later this month after a crash in Sydney’s south-east this morning.
About 2.40am (Saturday 6 March 2021), emergency services were called to Southern Cross Drive, near the off ramp to Wentworth Avenue, at Eastlakes, after reports a cyclist had been hit by a white Ford falcon utility.
Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The cyclist, a 57-year-old man, suffered serious head, back, shoulder and leg injuries after being thrown from the bike. ....

Proposed 12-cent increase per $1,000 of assessed value in county s local option property tax will come before voters in May
Clackamas County commissioners were split over whether to send a proposed increase of the local option public-safety levy to voters on the May ballot.
In a purely symbolic vote, commissioners decided 3-2 to support Clackamas Sheriff Angela Brandenburg s proposal to increase the levy by 12 cents. County Chair Tootie Smith, who ran for chair on a campaign of ensuring county public safety is well-funded, and Commissioner Mark Shull, who was appointed board liaison for public safety earlier this week, were the two Nay votes. ....

New tree policy not supported
Councillor Kennedy requested that Council develop a policy to remove sick and dying trees, outline the cost of their removal and replacement, and that Council consider outsourcing the work to contractors. Council’s Acting General Manager clarified that Council is already in the process of replacing dying trees. Councillors voted to defer the formation of any further policies until Council’s Tree Management Plan is completed in April.
Water restrictions considered
Councillor Kennedy requested that Council write to Essential Water and ministers asking why the city was on water restrictions. The motion was supported despite water restrictions already being lifted yesterday. ....
