Woodside to Reduce Presence in Myanmar
Australian explorer Woodside on February 27 said it is reducing its presence in Myanmar in response to human rights violations by the military.
“Woodside condemns human rights violations. Reports of violence against the Myanmar people participating in peaceful protests are deeply distressing,” it said. “We are reducing our presence in country and expect full de-mobilisation of our offshore exploration drilling team over the coming weeks.”
The military, Tatmadaw, carried out a coup on February 1 and arrested elected leaders including Aung San Suu Kyi. February 28 saw the most bloodshed since the coup when 18 people were fatally shot.   ....
