Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), which is gearing up to open the first stretch of 72-km Phase-II corridor on January 14, estimates the 6-km long Metro line to benefit at least 75,000 commuters on a daily basis. The new corridor built along Kanakapura Road comprises of five elevated Metro stations along the Green Line.
On Thursday, Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of
Housing and Urban Affairs and CM BS Yediyurappa will flag off the inaugural train at 4.30 pm from Konanakunte Cross Metro Station. Commercial operations will start from Friday.

After missing several deadlines, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has finally fixed a date to start commercial operations of the extended metro line on Kanakapura Road. The line from Yelachenahalli to Anjanapura will be inaugurated on January 14 and the next day people will be allowed to use the services.
Chief PRO of BMRCL Yashvanth Chavan said that Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (independent charge), Housing And Urban Affairs, will virtually inaugurate the metro line from Delhi. Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will also take part in the event by flagging off a train. “Usually, when inauguration is scheduled in the evening, the commercial operations start from the next morning,” Mr. Chavan said.

Puri said Congress should seriously introspect where it stands today. If not from someone else, Congress should seek inspiration from its own stalwarts of the past. Mired in nagging ideological and leadership problems the party should seriously introspect where it stands today, Puri tweeted.
Citing the example of the Indian freedom struggle leader Dr Annie Besant, Union Minister said, It can turn to a foreign-born Dr Annie Besant who loved India and was a nationalist.
