Mills and McIntyre claim silver at 470 Euros

Hannah Mills and Eilidh McIntyre claimed a silver medal at the 470 European Sailing Championships in Vilamoura.
Rio 2016 Olympic champion Mills and partner McIntyre will compete in the same event in Tokyo this summer, and they finished strongly in the Euros in Portugal.
Sitting fourth coming into the final day’s action, they moved up the leaderboard to claim the silver medal behind French pair Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz.
It was a strong performance after the fifth place earned by Mills and McIntyre, also in Vilamoura, at the World Championships in March.
The duo will be joined in Tokyo this summer by Luke Patience, the London 2012 silver medallist, and Chris Grube, who were in action in the men’s 470 event. ....

The Men s, Women s and Mixed fleets each sailed their Medal Race on Friday 7 May, the final day of competition
At the beginning of the final day, Kevin Peponnet & Jeremie Mion (FRA) led the way in the Men s fleet, with their compatriots Camille Lecointre & Aloise Retornaz topping the Women s fleet. In the Mixed fleet, Nitai Hasson & Saar Tamir (ISR) took a healthy points lead into the final showdown.
An exciting Mixed Medal Race started the day off. Nikolaos Brilakis & Rafailina Klonaridou (GRE) won the Medal Race to secure a seventh-placed finish overall, with Daniel Göttlich & Anna Markfort (GER) finishing second for overall fifth. ....

Olympic champion Hannah Mills believes she and teammate Eilidh McIntyre have even more to give as they claimed the runner-up spot at the 470 European Championships, their last big regatta before Tokyo 2020.
The Rio 2016 gold medallist said she and McIntyre have not yet hit their full potential - and will now throw everything at hitting their peak when racing gets under way in Japan in just ten weeks.
After a solid week, 2019 World Champions Mills and McIntyre went into the final double-points medal race in fourth with just a handful of points separating the top boats. ....

Seabright & Taylor claim mixed 470 Worlds bronze

Amy Seabright and James Taylor won bronze in the first ever mixed 470 World Championships - as Hannah Mills and Eilidh McIntyre narrowly missed out on a podium spot following an epic comeback in the women s fleet.
Seabright and Taylor notched up five top-five finishes on their way to securing their podium spot in the new 470 class format for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
At the midway point they even led the regatta in Vilamoura, Portugal, but were overtaken by eventual winners Gil Cohen and Noam Homri from Israel going into the ten-boat double-points medal race. ....
