Taking note of the pandemic, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) announced an extension in the last date for filing several statutory returns, including tax deducted at source (TDS) in some cases.

NEW DELHI: The finance ministry on Saturday extended the deadline for making payment under the direct tax dispute settlement scheme Vivad Se Vishwas as well as some other dates to June 30 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A statement from the ministry said the extension has been done due to the representations received from various stakeholders and consultants that except time barring dates which were extended to April 30 should be further extended due to disruptions caused by the second surge of Covid-19 cases.
“It has also been decided that time for payment of amount payable under the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Act, 2020, without an additional amount, shall be extended to 30th June, 2021,” the finance ministry statement said. ....
