Bishop's and La Jolla High ready to resume crosstown water polo rivalry

In a year in which high school sports are facing a lot of differences a shorter season, a season in a different time of year, new safety precautions one thing remains the same with the current water polo season: the crosstown rivalry between The Bishop’s School and La Jolla High School.
The Bishop’s School Knights and La Jolla High School Vikings will square off May 19 and 28, with one game at each school’s home pool.
The rivalry rooted in friendly competition and mutual respect stems, particularly on the girls teams, from players from both schools often playing together on club teams, then against one another in school. And there are the repeated matchups for CIF titles and wanting to be the pride of the 92037. ....

One blink on your drive up Barnard Street and you may miss the entrance to Vista High School one of the most student-centered learning spaces in all of West Contra Costa.
Led by veteran principal Edith Jordan-McCormick, Vista is a choice school within West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) for students in grades 7-12, and one that is often miscategorized as credit recovery or altogether unknown to many local families.
“[Vista] is an incredibly amazing alternative high school that people just don’t know about,” shared Jordan-McCormick. “It may not have the brand of a traditional high school that people are used to but it’s a special and healing place.” ....

South San Diego County students’ art is featured in the San Diego Museum of Art’s biennial student exhibition, “Young Art.”
Young Art is a juried exhibition that features art created by San Diego County students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The theme of Young Art 2021 is the environment and sustainability. Educators and students were encouraged to express innovation and creativity through art that conveys a sustainable message while referencing the museum’s permanent collection.
Young Art 2021 also features programs and interactive activities. Committee produces Helping Hands board to uplift students
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Vista High School (VHS) teachers and students unite to spread suicide awareness on campus and in the community.

Yellow Ribbon Committee Chair Mayra Navarro says, We want to start a conversation and dispel the myth that talking about this topic is harmful. We also want our students to know that anyone can be a link and they can help someone change their mindset by saying kind words, suggesting self-care activities, and suggesting ways to connect.
Amongst the activities planned is a Yellow Ribbon Helping Hands display board meant to spread uplifting images. Both students and faculty have opportunities throughout the week to contribute their own creative works to the board. ....

Walk up vaccinations now available in San Diego

All San Diego County run COVID-19 vaccination sites now accepting walk-ups
Beginning Tuesday, all County hosted sites are open for walk-up vaccinations without an appointment while supplies last each day.

SAN DIEGO San Diego County will now begin allowing for walk-up, no appointment vaccines at all of the County hosted sites. These sites will continue to offer scheduled appointments through the county website: vaccinesuperstationsd.com to go along with doses set aside each day for individuals that choose to walk up.
San Diego County is currently in the vaccination phase that is open to anyone at no cost for anyone that is 16 and older and lives or works in San Diego County. ....
