During the West Bengal elections, seizure of Rs 339.45 crore has been reported till Thursday. A voter turnout of 76.07 per cent was recorded in the eighth and final phase of the West Bengal assembly elections, the Election Commission said on Thursday. The turnout figure is provisional as it was recorded at 5 pm when voting was still on. The incident happened in Tulsiberia village in the Uluberia Uttar assembly segment, he said. Tapan Sarkar, the officer of sector 17 was visiting the TMC leader s house with the EVMs. The officer was suspended after the seizure of EVMs and VVPATs. The four machines are not being used in today s polling. We have sought a report from the District Election Officer, he added. ....

NEW DELHI: Twitter announced a series of initiatives in several Indian languages on Monday in a bid to encourage “healthy” conversations ahead of the assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry. The platform will publish a series of “pre-bunk” to tackle misinformation regarding EVMs, VVPATs, postal ballots, Covid-19 related restrictions, among other issues. The information will be based on inputs provided by civil society groups, including Youth Ki Awaaz and Association of Democratic Reforms. The information will be available in six languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. Additionally, the platform will host a series of political discussions under two hashtags #DemocracyAdda and #HerPoliticalJourney. These initiatives will promote civic participation among young Indians and the political journeys of women leaders and stories of their struggles and triumphs. ....
