Kincardine hospital to get first-of-its-kind CT scanner in Canada

Recent funding commitments could see a first of its kind CT scanner in the Kincardine Hospital as early as next year.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson announced approval in September for SBGHC to proceed with Stage 1 and 2 of the Ministry’s five-stage capital project process for an addition to the Kincardine hospital to house the scanner.
A grant totaling $1,410,000 will cover the construction.
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation is committed to fund the cost of the scanner…totaling $2.7-million..this includes a $1-million donation from Bruce Power.
The Edge Plus is a new model that has just received approval from Health Canada, and the Kincardine hospital will be one of the first installations of the unit in the Canadian market. ....

CT scanner model chosen for Kincardine hospital

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre has selected the CT scanner model it hopes to have installed at the Kincardine hospital next year.
Earlier this month, the board of directors for the SBGHC chose the Edge Plus CT scanner from Siemens as the model that will be installed at the hospital. It is anticipated that installation will happen in 2021, but a more definitive time is not available as it depends on Ministry of Health approval, a SBGHC spokesperson said Friday.
