Gibsonburg's 'Gauntlet Run' raising money for Brandan's Brigade fund

GIBSONBURG - For members of the Fremont Elite Runners Club, Brandan Biggert became a familiar face over the years as a volunteer at 5k and 10k races.
Anyone who ran in a local race, everybody knew Brandan, said Marc Glotzbecker, Gibsonburg s village administrator, calling Biggert one of the most genuine and positive people you ll ever meet.
Following Biggert s death in 2016, Glotzbecker said the runner s club formed Brandan s Brigade the next year to honor Biggert s dedication and help provide quality running shoes to economically disadvantaged area middle and high school track and cross country athletes.
Glotzbecker said the Fremont Elite Runners Club holds three fundraising runs a year to raise money for the Brandan s Brigade fund. ....

Indigenous rights activists gathered in St. Petersburg this weekend to demand action from the Catholic Church following the discovery of more than 1,000 graves filled with native children. The children were killed at schools meant to assimilate Indigenous peoples.
To the sound of a pulsing drum they marched.
Members of Florida Indigenous Rights and Environmental Equality led a group nearing 50 from a rally at Williams Park to a vigil at St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Church. The marchers wore orange to honor the children buried in the unmarked graves.
The mood was somber and acerbic. ....

Nearly two dozen demonstrators gathered in St. Petersburg on Saturday to hold the Roman Catholic Church accountable for the massacre of Indigenous children. During the past two weeks, more than 1,000 unmarked children’s graves have been unearthed from Canadian residential schools, causing widespread suffering throughout the Indigenous community.

The protesters met at Williams Park to listen to members of Florida Indigenous Rights and Environmental Equality (FIREE) express the abuses their people endured then marched to St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church to hold a vigil.
