So Donald Trump’s reign is almost over.
For the past four years I have woken daily and wondered what fresh hell offense he has committed. And most of the time I have been surprised and disturbed. He was consistently worse than I thought he would be.
Just after his election four years ago I said this:
Negatives? Where do I start. Any lefty who says that a positive is he is not as bad as Clinton will enjoy from me four years of “I told you so”. He will wreck havoc on international relations, a world approach to climate change is pretty well dead, constitutional norms will be destroyed, ethnic relations in the US will be stuffed. His potential to cause harm is massive.

The number of gun sales in Oregon by Christmas Day, 2020, was a whopping 4,000,000. The year before, an anemic 300,000.
It is the law of the gun. Guns in jets, guns in bombers, guns in schools, guns here on the streets, in Salem, at the Capital, guns in
Grand Theft Auto V, guns in purses, guns in boudoirs, guns in locker-rooms, guns in nurseries, guns in churches, guns in cars, guns in drones, guns guns guns.
Dalton Trumbo, quote from
Johnny Got His Gun :
An equation: 40,000 dead young men = 3,000 tons of bone and flesh, 124,000 pounds of brain matter, 50,000 gallons of blood, 1,840,000 years of life that will never be lived, 100,000 children that will never be born (the last we can afford: there are too many starving children in the world already)….

Why Presidential Pardons Need To Go Away
Donald Trump abuses his pardon power to protect his friends, we can’t let this go on.
I never took the time to fully understand a presidential pardon until recently. I never felt unsafe in decisions our president is making until the last 4 years. This made me dig deep into pardons and scams that come out of the process. It’s the ultimate power, and right now it’s given to a man that shouldn’t have that power.

The next time any American preaches to you about democracy, whisper one word in reply:
Trump. Whenever any American talks to you condescendingly about the quality of justice and the rule of law in the U.S., say:
Presidential pardons. And if any American boasts of the absence of nepotism in their country, one word should be enough to silence them:
Kushner.
No election in U.S. history has exposed the fragility of its democratic system than the 2020 presidential election. Until then, it was understood that the unsuccessful candidate (even if he was a sitting president) would concede defeat in a gentlemanly manner to the person who pipped him at the electoral post.
